Vanessa GB Gowreesunkar

Dr Gaitree (Vanessa) Gowreesunkar has undertaken her PhD in the area of Tourism Destination Management and Marketing, a merit scholarship based on her outstanding academic achievement. She was a Gold Medalist for her first degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management. She was awarded a further scholarship by the University Grants Commission (India) to pursue her PhD researches at the University of Delhi. As lecturer,Dr Vanessa Gowreesunkar has over a decade of teaching experience in her field and has a number of publications in her field. She has presented her researches in international conferences and is contributing to book chapters in the field of tourism and hospitality. Her research interest relates to island tourism, tourism management and marketing and sustainable tourism.Dr Vanessa Gowreesunkar is also the Executive Secretary of the AU ECOSOCC for the Women and Gender Cluster. She heads the cluster in the Interim ECOSOCC Chapter (INEC) Mauritius and she serves as expert for the communication, infrastructure and tourism cluster of AU ECOSOCC in Mauritius. She is the vice president of the African Network for Policy, Research and Advocacy for Sustainability - ANPRAS (www.anpras.org) and the chairperson of the STORSA (Sustainable Tourism for SIDS and Africa).
