Vidyasagar Potdar

Director, Blockchain R&D Lab, Curtin University, Curtin University

I am a multi-award winning researcher and the Director of the Blockchain R&D Lab. I have secured over $3 million dollars in external research funding by building strong industry partnerships. I have a an outstanding publications track record along and 20 on-time PhD completions. I am extremely media active with more than 60 media engagements.

I am an internationally recognised scholar in the area of Smart Grids & Blockchain with a high H-index (Scopus 22, Google Scholar 32) and high citations (Scopus 1705, Google Scholar 3473).

Two of my PhDs received chancellor’s commendation award for their research on Smart Grids.

I have strong industry engagement and projects with several industry partners including Natsoft Corporation, Main Roads, Dept. of Transport, StatoilHydro (Norway), Fleetwood Corp, Chartered Accountants AusNZ, Scope Systems, WA Country Health Services, Food Agility CRC, and Future Battery Industries CRC.

I am winner of 8 research and commercialisation awards.

I have a mix of academic and industry project experience.

In the first five years of my employment at Curtin University I was involved in a lot of Industry Funded Projects, where I had to understand the industry problems and propose a solution.

I was involved in researching in diverse areas based upon the industry partners needs and develop solutions with my team of PhD students.

This has resulted in me gaining a lot of experience in a lot of different areas, which is quite unique to me as a researcher since most other researchers are focussed on a very limited research areas.

Further all my research so far has been of practical nature, with real world applications.

My expertise is in the following areas: Blockchain Technology, IoT, & Data Analytics.
