Lead Senior Scientist, Aurum Institute

Violet Chihota is a Lead Senior Scientist at the Aurum Institute with a primary role of designing, securing funding and conducting research in TB and TB/HIV coinfection. She has been a noteworthy researcher in drug sensitive- and resistant TB molecular epidemiology, diagnosis of tuberculosis and
linkage into care post diagnosis. Her current interests are in preventing tuberculosis in people with TB/HIV coinfection. She holds an MSc Medical Microbiology from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, United Kingdom, a PhD in Medical Biochemistry from Stellenbosch University,
South Africa and training in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Johns Hopkins University. She holds joint appointments with University of Witwatersrand, South Africa and Vanderbilt University, USA.
