Dr Vishal Vora is a research fellow at the Department of Law and Anthropology, Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle (Saale), Germany. His current research focuses on the maturing British Hindu community, examining the relationship between religion and state, in particular the community search for its identity in multicultural Britain.

He completed his PhD in Law at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He thesis was entitled: The Islamic Marriage Conundrum: register or recognise? The legal consequences of the nikah in England and Wales. He was Called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2007 and maintains links with legal professionals, often providing expert witness reports for the courts in family law cases. Prior to his legal education and training, Vishal completed a science degree at University College London.
