Wayne obtained the award Doctor Of Philosophy from The University of Western Sydney for the thesis "Unregistered proprietary horse racing in Sydney 1888-1942". His primary research interests are the cultural history of horse racing, the morphology of the racecourses of Sydney, and historical racecourse design and infrastructure. His new book, Wandrin' Star: Wild Jack Peake of Peakhurst, is a humorous biography of his father.
