I'm a trans-disciplinary sustainability scientist, with a broad interest in both research and practice in the fields of biodiversity, climate change, urban resilience and international development in a digital world. I obtained my PhD in the field of sustainability from Michigan State University. Currently my main affiliation is with Luohan Academy, a thinktank initiated by the Alibaba Group on social science of digitalization.

I worked at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) during 2012-2020 and led the Governance in Transition research area in the Risk and Resilience Program. I'm still affiliated with IIASA as a Guest Research Scholar, in the meantime I'm also a Science Committee member of the UN's World Adaptation Science Programme, and a Senior Advisor for the Alliance for International Scientific Organizations of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
