Senior Lecturer, DST/NWU Preclinical Drug Delivery Platform, North-West University

Wihan is a researcher at the DST/NWU Preclinical Drug Development Platform (PCDDP) at the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University in South Africa. He was trained as an ecotoxicologist, focusing on the effect of organic pollutants (Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and organochlorine pesticides) on the health of fish in urban aquatic environments. He has recently shifted his focus to the pharmaceutical field, where he is involved in pre-clinical studies—feasibility, testing and drug safety—and novel drug delivery systems, using both in vivo and in vitro testing.
He is currently also involved in the supervision of 3 Master students and an honour’s student.
