William Hope lectures at the University of Salford and his research focuses on the language and culture of Italy and China. He is a member of the advisory boards of the journals Transletters and Studies in European Cinema. He has headed a project funded by the AHRC entitled A New Italian Political Cinema? which analysed how the cultural industries depict socio-political issues. He is also the co-editor of the volume Terminology Translation in Chinese Contexts – Theory and Practice (Routledge, 2021).
