Yarik Turianskyi

Yarik Turianskyi is Manager of the Governance and African Peer Review Mechanism Programme at the South African Institute of International Affairs and guest lecturer in African Governance and Eastern European Politics, University of Pretoria

Yarik Turianskyi holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Pretoria. From 2006 Yarik worked as a junior lecturer at the Department of Political Sciences at the university. He then joined South African Institute of International Affairs’ Governance and APRM Programme as a researcher in 2008.
Yarik’s work focused around both research and advocacy on the APRM, continentally as well as nationally. During his time with the Programme Yarik carried out APRM-related work in South Africa, Lesotho, Senegal and Mozambique.
In early 2012 Yarik left SAIIA to become the Head of Media and Communications at Good Governance Africa, a new initiative of the South African Institute of Race Relations. In July 2012 Yarik returned to SAIIA as a Programme Manager of the institute’s Governance and APRM Programme, which was jointly launched with the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA). Yarik has also been involved at various South African radio stations as both a presenter and correspondent since 2002.
