Adjunct Research Fellow, Sociology, Swinburne University of Technology

I’m an applied sociologist working as a senior researcher on social policy issues. I am also an Adjunct Research Fellow with Swinburne University.

I began my career as a lecturer, tutor and researcher at Swinburne University, and as a lecturer and tutor at Monash University. I later worked as an applied sociologist within federal and state government, not-for-profit and business sectors. This includes projects to address socio-economic mobility and social inclusion of migrants and refugees; political violence; environmental health and safety; gender violence; social media research; and developing and implementing Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE), a national program that works to improve gender equity and diversity in higher education and research institutes.

I write about sociology, social justice and social inclusion on my blog OtherSociologist.com. I also volunteer with various social science, equity and diversity, and science education groups, including SociologyAtWork.org and STEMWomen.net.
