The story behind the launch of The Conversation Africa

The “go live” moment for The Conversation-Africa, the fourth edition in TC’s global knowledge network.

The newest member of the TC family - The Conversation Africa - launched earlier in May. Now TC-Africa editor Caroline Southey has written this blog describing the thrill of launch, the anticipation of the early few weeks, and ambitions for the fourth edition in The Conversation global network.

We went live with the first edition of The Conversation Africa on the morning of May 7. Nothing can fully describe the thrill of the 60 minutes before and the 60 minutes after we posted our first stories on the website. The team gathered in our offices at 7 a.m. to watch the site go live. It was terrifying and exhilarating to see the real thing as The Conversation Africa appeared on the screen and we knew that the world could see us. Continue reading.

The Conversation now has editions in Australia, UK, US and Africa. All editions are locally funded by universities and foundations in those countries.
