Unions losing power but still enforce labour laws

Unions still play an important role in ensuring employers follow minimum standards for labour laws despite falling membership.

The study by Associate Professor John Howe, Professor Sean Cooney, Tess Hardy and Ingrid Landau of the University of Melbourne looked at five major Australian unions and found they use very different methods than from 20 years ago.

Advising employees and educating union delegates are other services that unions continue to provide.
