More than 76% of Australian children use the internet every day according to a new study from Edith Cowan University. Researchers surveyed the internet use of 400 nine to 16-year-olds as part of a 25 country study on the internet habits of children.
The study found 28% of Australian children have experienced online bullying, compared to 19% of children across Europe. Three in five Australian children use a mobile phone to access the internet, making it difficult for parents to monitor their activities.
Australian children are eight years old on average the first time they use the internet, making them among the youngset children in the world to start using the web.
