Australia is the gateway to exotica for Brit backpackers

Young Britons are using Australia as a base to explore South East Asia, according to research from Monash University. The high-value dollar, and the accessibility of exotic destinations means that Australia has to work hard to capture the attention of travellers. Backpackers contribute $3.2billion to the economy each year, and are increasingly attracted to Australia’s cheap flights to more exotic climates.
