Childhood poverty linked to chronic stress

The longer children spend in poverty, the higher the risk of them developing chronic stress by the age of 17.

Factors associated with chronic stress including blood pressure, overnight levels of stress hormones, and body mass index were used to assess physiological changes in 173 children.
