Defensive homicide laws crucial for domestic violence cases

Women who kill their partners after years of domestic violence will struggle in court if the current defensive homicide law is abolished in Victoria.

A new study has shown that domestic violence and how it shapes the expectation of “reasonable” self defence in criminal cases isn’t properly understood.

The study concluded that women may have harsher sentences if the defensive homicide law is abolished.
