Dr Mehrdad Nikfarjam and colleagues reviewed studies that looked into the link between diabetes and pancreatic cancer. The researchers believe pancreatic cancer might be the reason for some people having developed diabetes, however diabetes also remains a modest risk factor for pancreatic cancer well after diabetes is first diagnosed.

The researchers suggest screening for pancreatic cancer might be appropriate for people who have been newly diagnosed with diabetes to catch pancreatic cancer in its early stages.
