Disadvantaged mothers with poor health are more likely to have sick children than mothers in good health.
The study looked at two groups of disadvantaged mothers: one healthy group and one unhealthy group, and found disadvantaged unhealthy mothers had a higher chance of having children who were unwell.
There were also greater odds that children of unhealthy mothers would develop asthma, learning disabilities and end up in an emergency room.
The children with best health had healthy mothers who were not disadvantaged.
