New gene regulates muscle size

A specific gene has been discovered to regulate muscle size in a new study.

Genetically modified mice missing the Grb10 protein were found to have large muscles, even in the case of newborns. The findings lead researchers to conclude that the protein regulated muscle growth.

Researchers hope that the discovery will help treat conditions such us Type 2 diabetes and muscular dystrophy.
