New picture of hepatitis C virus could help find vaccine

Scientists may be a step closer to developing an effective vaccine for hepatitis C after finding the most detailed image yet of a key part of the deadly virus.

New data helped establish a clearer picture of the virus’s E2 protein, exposing structural features they were not aware of before.

The finding will help them develop a vaccine to better fight the E2 protein, which scientists have long suspected to be the key culprit in the virus.
