Adjunct Senior Research Fellow in Education, Griffith University

I'm a very experienced researcher in adult, vocational and workplace education and learning, and have had academic appointments in four Australian universities up to the level of Associate Professor. I was Editor of the Journal of Workplace Learning (Emerald, UK) for seven years. I spent two years in Army Education as a National Serviceman, and my PhD was entitled 'A sweet use of adversity: the Australian Army Education Service in the two World Wars' - subsequently published. More recently my book, The Chalkies', on the experiences of National Servicemen in Army Education in PNG 1965-72, was also published, and I currently have an Army History Research Grant to look at the role of the Educational Corps in Vietnam in the same period. I continue to teach and research in vocational education in the School of Education and Professional Studies at Griffith University, Mt Gravatt campus, Brisbane. I'm also a published author of non-fiction books and shorter fiction, and have written articles for newspapers and 'Griffith Review'.
