Christine joined UCLan in 2010, after being awarded her PhD in Education Policy. She workded for eight years as Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Work Care and Community. In August 2018 Christine retired from full time teaching and is now a part time post-graduate lecturer in the Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning. She continues with her research work, which focuses on BAME and Muslim offenders and families, culture and the criminal justice sector. She is part of a research collective, Arooj, which comprises a Muslim third sector organisation and other academics. This partnership was awarded funding by the Barrow Cadbury Trust in 2017, for their most recent research project, 'Faith Families and Crime', which explores the impact of the criminal justice sector on Muslim families.
