Hillary A. Brown

Professor of Architecture and Director of the Urban Sustainability Program, City College of New York

Hillary Brown, FAIA, Professor of Architecture, directs City College of NY’s interdisciplinary graduate program in urban sustainability. Her books, Next Generation Infrastructure (Island Press 2014) and Infrastructural Ecologies (MIT Press 2017) describe integrated approaches to infrastructure planning. In 2019, she was inducted into the National Academy of Construction, and earlier served six years on the Board of Infrastructure and the Constructed Environment, National Academies Research Council. Hillary was the founding director of NYC’s Office of Sustainable Design, developing its High Performance Building and Infrastructure Guidelines.
