Professor, Griffith University

Professor Jennifer Martin is Director of the Eskitis Institute for Drug Discovery at Griffith University, and Honorary Professor at the University of Queensland. She has held ARC Australian Laureate Fellow, Professorial Fellow, Queen Elizabeth II and NHMRC Senior Research Fellowships. Jenny trained as a pharmacist in Melbourne, and was awarded the Gold Medal from the then Victorian College of Pharmacy. She was awarded a prestigious 1851 Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 Science Research Scholarship to undertake her DPhil at the University of Oxford, in protein crystallography and structure-based inhibitor design. Her research focuses on protein structure and function in health and disease and the application of structure-based approaches to drug-lead discovery. From 2008-2011 she chaired the National Committee for Crystallography of the Australian Academy of Science. Jenny is the recipient of awards including the ASBMB Roche Medal, the Queensland Smart Women Smart State Research Scientist Award and the Women in Biotech Outstanding Achievement Award.
