Maria Gloria Polimeno is Doctoral Researcher at the University of Exeter. Before joining the Department of Politics and International Studies at SOAS, she was appointed Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Politics at Birkbeck College University of London where she taught Middle East Politics and Global Conflicts, Security and Humanitarianism at postgraduate level. Among the several research positions, she was appointed Academic visitor and Visiting Scholar (by publication) at the London Middle East Institute, SOAS from September 2012 to April 2013 and from January to March 2017 respectively. Between September 2013 and April 2014 she was appointed Research Fellow at the Department of Politics at City, University of London. In October 2014 she was invited Guest lecturer at the Centre for Jewish Studies in Heidelberg. Among the non-academic activities, she served as Middle East North Africa specialist in the Chevening Committee, Foreign and Commonwealth Office UK Government and has contributed with an invited analysis to the Libyan post-conflict reconstruction for the Italian Ministry of Defence.
She has published in Mediterranean Politics, Democratisation, British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, Cambridge Review of International Affairs and European Journal of International Security (forthcoming).
