Melissa is the Academic Director of the Castan Centre for Human Rights Law, at Monash Law. She teaches, researches and writes on Australian public law, Indigenous legal issues, human rights law, and legal education. Melissa's most recent book is Critical Perspectives on Human Rights Law in Australia (2021). Melissa was a Chief Investigator on an ARC funded project that investigated the legal and other barriers to Indigenous Australians' registration and certification of birth. Her most recent ARC project is 'Real-time rights-based recordkeeping governance' which analyses and evaluate how records co-creation can be conceptualised in child protection and information law contexts.
