Dr Siyabulela Christopher Fobosi

Senior Researcher, UNESCO 'Oliver Tambo' Chair of Human Rights, University of Fort Hare, University of Fort Hare

Dr Siyabulela Christopher Fobosi holds a PhD in Industrial Sociology from the University of Johannesburg. For his PhD, Siyabulela conducted research on the impact of the Taxi Recapitalisation Programme (TRP) - now the Revised TRP (RTRP) - on precarious working conditions within the minibus taxi industry in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is a Head of the UNESCO 'Oliver Tambo' Chair of Human Rights in the University of Fort Hare. He is a seasoned researcher and has written and published academic articles, presented research papers at national and international conferences and contributed towards various articles in local and national newspapers. He has also written submissions to the national Department of Transport (Economic Regulation of Transport Bill, 2018); Competition Commission (Public Passenger Transport Market Inquiry, 2018 – Public Hearing); Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport (Gauteng Transport Authority Bill, 2018); and Department of Basic Education (Draft Policy for the Registration of Learners for Home Education, 2018).
