Tom E Nightingale

Tom E. Nightingale, PhD, is a Lecturer in Exercise Physiology in the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Birmingham. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Sports and Exercise Science from the University of Bath in 2010, Nightingale earned his doctorate in Exercise Physiology from the same academic institution in 2016. He has worked previously as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Departments of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at institutions across North America; Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of British Columbia. His research interests focus on exercise rehabilitation following traumatic or acquired injuries and the prevention of physical de-conditioning and the ensuing development of chronic diseases. Dr. Nightingale holds an affiliation with the International Collaboration On Repair Discoveries (ICORD) Research Centre where he is investigating various neuroprosthetic strategies to modulate autonomic functions following spinal cord injury.
