Valerie Derbyshire

Doctoral Researcher, School of English, University of Sheffield

I graduated from the University of Sheffield with a first class degree in 1998. In 2013, I returned to part-time study and completed my Masters Degree with distinction. I am now a full-time PhD Researcher in the School of English at the University of Sheffield studying the evocation of place and space within the works of Charlotte Turner Smith (1749-1806). I also have an interest in the romance genre generally, from eighteenth-century fiction to contemporary romantic novels, especially Harlequin Mills & Boons.
