Racism linked with gun ownership among white Americans

Researchers have found a correlation between higher levels of racism in white Americans and having a gun in the home.

The study established that for each one point increase in symbolic racism (on a scale from one to five) there is a 50% increase in chances of the person having ownership of a gun. Similarly, for each one point increase on the scale there is a 28% increase in the support for policies allowing concealed guns to be carried.

The results of the research also revealed the majority of white Americans support stricter gun controls.
