Young steroid users at increased risk of heart disease

Abuse of steroids is linked to heart disease in otherwise healthy young men.

The study looked at 24 steroid-related deaths and found that extensive heart disease was present in half of the cases.

Nearly all of the individuals who had been using steroids together with psychostimulants had a lot of damage to their cardiovascular system. This indicates that steroid use combined with stimulant use increases a person’s risk of developing heart disease.

The researchers noted many steroid users were unaware of this health risk.
