Bacteria research could help develop new bioinsectides

Research on bacteria could be used to create new bioinsectides and protect crops, a study has shown.

A team of researchers from institutions in Australia and New Zealand, including University of Queensland, investigated a bacteria which kills crop-eating insects.

They found the bacteria created a protein shell, described as a “protective canister”, around its toxins to protect itself.

It may also have implications for human disease research.
