PhD Researcher, Marine and Renewable Energy Ireland, University College Cork

I graduated in 2000 at the maritime college in Rotterdam, Netherlands, for a Bsc in nautical science and engineering. After that I spent 15 years working at sea as a navigation officer and the last 6 years of that as captain.
In 2015 I gave up the seafaring life to start an Msc in Marine Renewable Energy at UCC. After finishing the masters I started working for UCC in the research institute MaREI until 2018 when I started my PhD.
My research topic for the PhD is the combined simulation of waves, wind and current in laboratory basins.
