Alexander Carpenter

Professor, Musicology, University of Alberta

I am the Director of the Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European Studies at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, a professor of musicology in the music division at the Augustana campus of the University of Alberta in Camrose, a music critic, and rock musician. My main research interests are Viennese music and culture, popular music, aesthetics, music and psychoanalysis, and film music. As musician, I perform as a singer and guitarist with the bands Boomstick and The Exstatics.
