Arthur Midwinter

Associate Professor, Institute of Public Sector Accounting Research, The University of Edinburgh

Arthur Midwinter is a visiting professor at Edinburgh's Institute of Public Sector Accounting Research. He is a former Professor of Politics at University of Strathclyde, where he was also Dean of Arts and Social Sciences.

He was the professional adviser on the budget to the Scottish Parliament’s Finance Committee for 2002 to 2007, and fulfilled this role for the Scottish Parliamentary Labour Group between 2007 and 2011.

As an adviser to Scottish Labour leader Johann Lamont, Arthur was appointed chair of the party's Welfare Commission, which is putting together a series of proposals for the future of Scotland.

Arthur does financial consultancy work for a range of public sector bodies and professional associations.
