Brett David Freudenberg

Professor of Taxation, Griffith University

Brett Freudenberg is a Professor – Taxation at Griffith University (Australia). Brett’s expertise is evidenced by a Fulbright scholarship (2006) and a strong publication record with over 100 refereed publications in leading Australian and international journals. His tax research includes international comparative law studies (such as tax flow-through companies, tax reforms for the arts sector and Islamic Finance), as well as the taxation of business forms (particularly trusts). In 2009 Brett was invited to present his PhD research findings to the Australian Treasury as part of the Henry Tax Review. Also his PhD was awarded the CCH-ATTA Doctoral Prize which saw it published as a book in 2011: Tax Flow-Through Companies. He has also successfully conducted research grants for CPA Australia and Arts Qld.

Brett’s effectiveness as a teacher has been recognised through five national awards (including the award of two Australian Learning and Teaching Council citations: 2008 & 2011). He is also a meticulous and rigorous scholar in learning and teaching with numerous refereed publications in the areas of work-integrated learning, self-efficacy, generic capabilities and information literacy.
