PhD Candidate, Socio-legal Studies, York University, Canada

I am a PhD candidate at York University in the Socio-legal studies program, with a Master's in Criminology from the University of Ottawa. My research area focuses on incarceration, immigration detention and deportation and its impacts on families in the Canadian context. Currently, I take interest in the ways lived experiences of detention and deportation are shaped by the racially embedded processes of criminalization, securitization, punishment and state-sanctioned violence. I have previously published work in the Incarceration Journal on the experiences of families with a loved one incarcerated in Canadian prisons.
