Christopher Arnott

PhD Candidate, Griffith University

Christopher Arnott, an Indigenous PhD researcher in the School of Government and International Relations at Griffith University, is investigating the nature of political misinformation and its potential influence on voters. His research explores the persuasiveness of misinformation, with a particular focus on undecided voters. He examines specific message factors that may enhance or diminish the impact of misinformation, and considers how individual predispositions can mediate the persuasion process.

Drawing from a broad spectrum of theories—including those from political communication, behavioural, social, affective, and personality neuroscience, as well as rhetorical studies and persuasion theory—his research aims to shed light on the complex interplay between psychology and political communication.

His work seeks to understand how these factors contribute to political behaviour and the shaping of societal institutions.
