Cláudia F. Lopes Gomes

Assistant Professor at Faculty of Medicine, Universidad Complutense de Madrid

I have a PhD from the Faculty of Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid, specialized in forensic genetics and population genetics in very degraded biological samples. I have been studying human remains, adults or neonates, with different antiquity and degradation stages, from Neolithic (5000 B.C) until contemporaneous biological samples. Kinship analysis is my first line of investigation, being specialized in X-chromosome and autosomal markers. Currently, my investigation is centred on kinship studies, mainly in cases of civil wars, like the Spanish Civil War, comparing human remains with presumptive alive relatives, studying lineage markers, and recombining markers, like autosomal STRs, X-STRs, and InDels.
