Cristina Santín

I am a Research Fellow at the Institute of Biodiversity (CSIC-Uniovi-PA, Spain) and an Honorary Associate Professor at Swansea University (United Kingdom). During my PhD (2009, University of Oviedo, Spain) I studied anthropogenic impacts on soils and sediments of estuarine environments but in 2011 I moved research topic to work on something I have been always passionate about, wildfire.

My current research focuses on the effects of fire on carbon dynamics and water quality and, also, on fuel characterization for fire behavior modelling, fire impacts on soils, and social perceptions of fire. I am also interested in biochar and pyrogenic carbon as potential carbon sinks.
