Cynthia Okpokiri

Senior Lecturer in Social Work and Social Policy, Anglia Ruskin University

Dr Cynthia Okpokiri is a Senior Lecturer and MA Social Work Course Leader at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. She is actively engaged in research, including doctoral research supervision. Cynthia's research and teaching interests include: theorising Black parenting; children and family social work; alternative (decolonised) epistemologies and methodologies in social work and social research; efficacy of social work.

Cynthia gained her PhD in Social Work and Social Care at University of Sussex researching child welfare issues with Black African parents in Greater London. She is a registered social worker with extensive experience in child protection. Cynthia is a court expert witness in the subject area of social work and social care.
