After completing a BSc (Hons) Microbiology degree at Leeds University, I was employed as a Research Associate for GSK and the Cancer Epidemiology Research Unit at Birmingham University, where I worked on large community-based health research projects.
After taking a career break with my 3 children, I became interested in developmental psychology and completed a PhD in Psychology (“An Evaluation of the Cerebellar Deficit Hypothesis of Developmental Dyslexia”). After working as a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer at UCLan and Programme Leader for Psychology at Edge Hill University, I left full-time academia and worked as a Disability Needs Assessor in Higher Education, before returning to academia in 2019. I am now based in the UCLan campus in Burnley, supporting the delivery of the undergraduate course in Psychology.
I have researched in many aspects of developmental and educational psychology and am especially interested in the support of those who find it difficult to access and learn within traditional education.
