Obtained PhD with dissertation entitled Physical education and physical culture in the Coloured community of the Western Cape, 1837-1966. His research focus area is sport history in marginalised communities, with special emphasis on physical culture. To date he has published 50 peer reviewed journal articles, 10 book chapters and edited two volumes on decolonisation in sport.
