Lecturer: African Politics and Political Conflict in the Department of Political Science, Stellenbosch University. He is also the Founding Editor of the ‘Journal of African Union Studies’, Stellenbosch University

Gerrie Swart's teaching specialisation is in African Politics, Southern African Politics, Africa's International Relations specialises in African Politics and Political Conflict.

His research interests are
Leadership in Africa, Conflict in Africa, Preventive Diplomacy, Political Risk Analysis and Terrorism.

He was part of South Africa research team for the Leaders, Elites and Coalitions Research Project, funded by The World Bank.

He holds the qualifications: BPolSci (International Studies) (Cum Laude) (UP), BA (Hons) (International Relations) (Cum Laude) (UP), MA (International Relations) (Cum Laude) (UP). He is presently completing a PhD in Political Science at Stellenbosch University. He is the founding editor ofThe Journal of African Union Studies.
