James played professional rugby for the ACT Brumbies in their inaugural year of 1996 through to 2003, during which time he gained 7 caps for the national team, the Australian Wallabies. He has since finished a psychology honors and taken on a PhD in skill acquisition in sport at the University of Queensland where he has been fortunate to be supervised by Professor Bruce Abernethy and Professor Damian Farrow. The study focusses on the motor proficiency of passing a rugby ball on determining the decision making process in rugby union. He also currently assists in coaching the University of Queensland Premier rugby team in the Queensland competition.
