Associate Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, University of Michigan

Dr. Waljee’s research interests include the development and implementation of patient-reported outcomes (PROs) as quality measures, and understanding variations in care in reconstructive and hand surgery. Specifically, some of her research examines the variation in PROs across hospitals and surgeons, and the patient-, surgeon-, and hospital-level factors that drive this variation at the population level for four surgical conditions: bariatric, urologic, wrist, and spine surgery; the extent to which PROs are independent measures of quality compared with clinical outcomes; and the ways in which patients might use PROs in conjunction with clinical outcomes as measures of hospital and surgeon performance. Dr. Waljee is also a member of the IHPI Institute Leadership Team (ILT).
