Joël Guiot

Joël Guiot est chercheur émérite du CNRS au Centre européen de recherche et de formation en géosciences de l'environnement (CEREGE, Université d'Aix-Marseille, France). Ses principaux travaux de recherche portent sur l'impact des changements climatiques passés, présents et futurs sur les écosystèmes méditerranéens, en particulier sur la forêt méditerranéenne. En 2008, il a co-fondé le réseau ECCOREV (Écosystèmes continentaux et risques environnementaux) pour promouvoir l'interdisciplinarité dans les sciences de l'environnement, en particulier avec les sciences sociales, et en 2012 le Laboratoire d'excellence OT-Med pour étudier les risques liés au changement climatique et aux risques naturels dans le bassin méditerranéen. Il a lancé en 2015 avec W. Cramer, le groupe méditerranéen d'experts sur les changements environnementaux et climatiques (MedECC), pour transférer les connaissances scientifiques sur le changement climatique aux acteurs de la société des deux côtés de la Méditerranée. Il est l'un des principaux auteurs du rapport spécial du GIEC sur l'impact d'un réchauffement climatique de 1,5°C (publié en 2018).

Joel Guiot is a CNRS researcher emeritus at the European Centre for Research and Training in Environmental Geosciences (CEREGE, University of Aix-Marseille, France). His main research work concerns the impact of past, present and future climate change on Mediterranean ecosystems. In 2008, he co-founded the ECCOREV network (Continental Ecosystems and Environmental Risks) to promote interdisciplinarity in environmental sciences, in particular with the social sciences, and in 2012 the OT-Med Laboratory of Excellence to study climate change and natural hazards in the Mediterranean basin. He launched in 2015 with W. Cramer, the Mediterranean Expert Group on Environmental and Climate Change (MedECC), to transfer scientific knowledge on climate change to societal actors on both sides of the Mediterranean. He is one of the main authors of the IPCC special report on the impact of a 1.5°C global warming (published in 2018).
