Julien Lefort-Favreau

Associate professor, French Studies, Queen's University, Ontario

Julien Lefort-Favreau is an Associate Professor in the Department of French Studies at Queen's University (Kingston, Canada). He is also affiliated with the Cultural Studies program. His interests: the sociology of publishing, contemporary literature from Quebec and France, and everything that concerns the connections between art, ideology, social movements, politics. Latest book: Le luxe de l'indépendance. Réflexions sur le monde du livre, Lux éditeur, 2021. From 2012 to 2022, he was a member of the editorial board of the journal Liberté. He has published articles in Nouveau Projet and The Conversation. His research is tied to discussions of academic freedom and open access, as it involves the autonomy of creative creative and knowledge institutions and their democratization. He’s seeking to frame these debates in the broad context of the climate crisis. It is part of the reflections on the diversity of languages and cultures in Canada by analyzing how different communities can access the public space through book publishing.
