Professor of Nutritional Physiology, Anglia Ruskin University

Justin is a Professor of Nutritional Physiology applied to exercise adaptations, recovery and functional health. His interests encompass a wide range of areas including how dietary and nutrient interventions can impact on adaptations to exercise, both in terms of physiological and metabolic health, as well as enhancing recovery. He also has a keen interest in nutrition for functional health associated with ageing, including nutrients which may impact on muscle and joint physiology.

At present his current research interests involve the use of ‘calorie restriction mimetic’ nutrients on physiological mechanisms associated with fat oxidation and weight management, as well as the health benefits of plant-based proteins, and the potential benefits of novel antioxidant polyphenol compounds on exercise adaptations and active recovery.
