Kaitlynne is a policy researcher at the MacEachen Insitute for Public Policy and Governance based out of Dalhousie University. Her research focuses on emergency management, specifically on accessibility and supporting people with disabilities. She is an Action Canada Fellow (2021).

Active Projects:

1. Title: Government Response to COVID-19 in Canada: A Risk Perspective. Description: A 3-year project exploring government responses to the COVID-19 pandemic across Canada. Key events of the pandemic were documented and analyzed to understand factors influencing pandemic responses. This project is for a manuscript currently under review.

2. Title: Working across Disciplines to Understand and Improve Mass Evacuations: Examining Different Types of Risk and Contextual Pressures. Description: A 3-year research project bringing together a group of practitioners, scholars, and 20 partner organizations with expertise and experience in risk and evacuation from a variety of sectors (e.g., emergency management, academia, telecommunications, politics and the voluntary sector). This research is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).

3. Title: Interdisciplinary Study of Evacuating Persons with Disabilities from an Urban Center. Description: A 2-year research project bringing together a group of practitioners, scholars, and 16 partner organizations with expertise and experience in disability policy, as well as risk and evacuation, from a variety of sectors (e.g., emergency management, disability-advocacy organizations, academia, and the voluntary sector). This research is funded by Accessibility Standards Canada (ASC).
